American Valley Winter

Every day I take a five to six mile walk near my home in Quincy California which is at the northern end of the Sierra Nevada mountains right before it merges with the Cascade mountain range coming down from Oregon through Northern California. On this one early winter day I was walking on the path through the ranch lands in the area and I saw this shot and just and to get it on film. The stream in the shot feeds into Spanish Creek which later merges with the Feather River. The snowcapped mountain in the background is Mount Hough which lies at the far end of the American Valley which is where I was standing. It was quite cold and I had to take special precautions so the lens would not get fogged up. After several minutes I was able to get this shot which really gives you a sense of the grandeur of these High Sierra mountains.
