Thank you to our Firefighters!!!

Posted on December 28th, 2013

The artists and patrons of Main Street Artists Gallery would like to thank all the firefighters from Quincy and neighboring towns who made an extra effort to salvage all the art from our gallery by moving it to the safety of Pangaea restaurant. As a result of their careful handling, not one piece of art was damaged and the artists were spared what might have been a painful loss.

We are grateful to the Fire Chief for his decision to make the removal of
art the first priority, ahead of machines and furniture, because he understood
that it was irreplaceable.  We thank him for his consideration and sensitivity.

We also wish to thank Holly and Patrick Callahan for opening up their restaurant on a Sunday and offering us a safe place to bring the art and to Scott Case who allowed us to place the larger pieces of furniture in the storeroom at his store, Stone Leaf.

As tragic as the events of that day were, it was heartwarming to see friends and neighbors offering help and comfort. It made us realize how fortunate we are to live in a town where people care about each other.

Main Street will be rebuilt and it will thrive.

Thank you all.
